Schynige Platte Bahn, Switzerland

Board one of the small mountain railway trains, perhaps Matten or Alpenrose, at Wilderswil Sation and begin to slowly wind your way  ever higher to the station at Schynige Platte. Along the journey the spectacular panoramic views of Interlaken and the blue of Lake Thun hold you. During the course of its 1386m ascent, the small train twists and turns through what seems a thousand bends. Each bend unfolding a new perspective on the mountinous landscape. After 50 or so minutes, you stand upon the Schynige Platte, where on a clear day the mountainous sights of the Eiger and Jungfau present themselves before you.
